| Description: |
The aim of the research project is the potential in forestal biomass in current, spatially and temporally preferably high-resoluted data basis, including aspects of nature and landscape protection. This will be an operational basis for the players of parallel and competing value chains with the focus on "Biomass use". The possibility of the continuation of the developed data base and the efficient utilisation by economic development agencies and the accessibility for the public are of particular interest. With the help of the project results tools for players (private and public forest owners, forest engineers, farmers, municipalities, planning and engineering offices) are made available, which enable sustainable deployment concepts. These, in turn, provide a reliable basis for intelligent heating and combined heating and power technologies, as well as for material alternatives. Based on a thorough analysis of the current results of the forestry institution in the district of Goeppingen, and the results of impact statistics, data from the forestry service statistics with data on air and satellite image data base was linked. With the help of current laser scan data as a third data source in combination with terrestrial evaluated surveys, information on biomass resources area-wide and irrespective of ownership are efficiently derived. The added value of previously practised surveys lies on the one hand in a regionally defined and clarified inventory, on the other hand, in an innovative merge of the forest inventory data from the National Survey with available geodata (ATKIS/ALK, digital orthophotos, laser scanning elevation models). For the purposes of an effective knowledge transfer, the results of the study target for various media (internet portal of the district office/information brochures) (Second phase of the project: the beginning of 2008, sponsored by Stuttgart Region Economic Development Corporation). |
